Nic Hailey, British High Commissioner to Kenya
Nic has been British High Commissioner to Kenya since December 2015. Prior to taking up his current position he was Director for Africa at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO). In that role he had responsibility for all UK policy towards, and operations in, 48 countries across Africa.
Nic joined the FCO in 1997. He has held various positions in the Foreign Office: Deputy Ambassador – Kabul; Counsellor, Political, Economics & Communication Group - Washington; Head of Strategy, Communication & Training Department, FCO Consular Directorate; speech writer to the Foreign Secretary; Private Secretary to Her Majesty’s Ambassador - Paris followed by Berlin; Secondment to École nationale d’adminstration, Paris; and Desk Officer, European Union Directorate.
Sarah Cooke, British High Commissioner to Tanzania
Sarah Cooke has been the High Commissioner to Tanzania since September 2016. Previously, Sarah was the country representative for DFID Bangladesh from October 2012 to 2016.
She joined DFID in 2003 and previously worked as a deputy director in the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit. In this role she led cross-government strategy projects including development of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, which the UK launched at the World Summit for Sustainable Development in 2002. Sarah has a degree in economics.
